My medium of choice is collage. I love moving paint about a surface and cutting little scraps of paper. I can spend hours at a flea market rummaging through texts and photos, or drawers of rice papers and gift wrap to find the pieces that speak to me. I look for color, design and stories to create each piece.
The content of my collage pieces are the result of years of grappling with social, cultural and political issues. I’m interested in questioning expectations of idealized gender roles and power structure. I investigate the historical roots of belief systems that have built disparities and preferentialities currently colliding with our contemporary lives once again.
